Paradise Valley (The Daughters of Caleb Bender Book #1)
By Dale Cramer / Genre: Historical, Religious Fiction / Rating: 4.6 out of 5 stars (111 reviews)
An Amish settlement in Ohio has run afoul of a law requiring their children to attend public school. Caleb Bender and his neighbors are arrested for neglect, with the state ordering the children be placed in an institution. Among them are Caleb’s teenage daughter, Rachel, and the boy she has her eye on, Jake Weaver. Romance blooms between the two when Rachel helps Jake escape the children’s home.
Searching for a place to relocate his family where no such laws apply, Caleb learns there’s inexpensive land for sale in Mexico, a place called Paradise Valley. Despite rumors of instability in the wake of the Mexican revolution, the Amish community decides this is their answer. And since it was Caleb’s idea, he and his family will be the pioneers. They will send for the others once he’s established a foothold and assessed the situation.
Caleb’s daughters are thrown into turmoil. Rachel doesn’t want to leave Jake. Her sister, Emma, who has been courting Levi Mullet, fears her dreams of marriage will be dashed. Miriam has never had a beau and is acutely aware there will be no prospects in Mexico.
Once there, they meet Domingo, a young man and guide who takes a liking to Miriam, something her father would never approve. While Paradise Valley is everything they’d hoped it would be, it isn’t long before the bandits start giving them trouble, threatening to upset the fledgling Amish settlement, even putting their lives in danger. Thankfully no one has been harmed so far, anyway.

My Emily
By Matt Patterson / Genre: Special Needs, Parenting & Relationships / Rating: 4.7 out of 5 stars (114 reviews)
Emily wasn’t born perfect – so one might think.
She was born with Down Syndrome and many would jump to the conclusion that she would have very little hope for a life with any significance. Two years later came the diagnosis of leukemia. What little hope remaining turned to no hope whatsoever – or so one might think.
The life of this little girl, with all its perceived imperfections, had great meaning. Her loving nature and courage touched the hearts of everyone she met. She also taught them how to value their own lives – even with their many “imperfections.”
Note: A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this book will help families with special needs children, those who are battling pediatric cancers, as well as parents grieving the loss of a little one.

For Keeps (Aggie’s Inheritance)
By Chautona Havig / Genre: Romance, Religious Fiction / Rating: 4.3 out of 5 stars (97 reviews)
Her first six months of “motherhood” included an ant infestation, a major move, house renovation, and lessons in how to be a mom to eight lively children. Now that the house is nearly complete, her children are headed back to school, and she has a few tantrums under her hymn-singing belt, Aggie is certain life will settle down. Poor Aggie… William makes his intentions known, Luke and his mother are always there for her, and between a new kitten, a box full of puppies, and chicken pox, Aggie’s home begins to resemble the local zoo! Her children keep testing the waters, the unrealistic budgets she makes refuse to balance, and she learns that life with children means that nothing stays done and perfect for long. Add Geraldine and her histrionics to the mix and it’s no wonder she’s ready to run away from home. When a surprise letter arrives, everything could turn upside down. Relief is in sight, but can she bring herself to jump to plan B? Has this just been a practice game, or is she playing for keeps? Will her household shrink drastically, or will it expand?

Journal
By Craig Buckhout / Genre: Action & Adventure / Rating: 4.7 out of 5 stars (49 reviews)
The year is 2054. Global Warming, disease, famine, and war have decimated the human population. Alan Trent, a particularly ambitionless man, who avoids trouble “just like I avoid poison oak and all other things uncomfortable,” finds a set of journals while scavenging through a house for food in what used to be Washington State. The journal’s author was a woman named Claire Huston. Her words inspire Alan to continue writing in her journals in the hope that by doing so “her humanity will somehow stay alive ….” She also causes him to do something wholly uncharacteristic — rescue a boy from a group of men. He rescues the boy all right, but it’s much more complicated than that. What follows is a deadly game of hide-and-seek, hardship, and survival, where, at every turn, Alan is forced to confront his own humanity.

It is 1988 and teenager Whitney Forbes thought her biggest problem was surviving high school and determining if there was more to handsome Reid Wallace than just his looks and popularity. She was wrong. Her problems were about to get a lot more complicated.
Whitney always knew she was special. But when she discovers she is more “special” than she ever imagined, surviving another school day outside her posh D.C. suburb takes on a whole new meaning. Fall asleep! It’s Easy…The (miraculous) Kaleidoscope Method
By Elli Yeates / Genre: Mental Health / Rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars (24 reviews)
Are you having trouble falling asleep? Are you waking in the middle of the night and tossing and turning for hours only to drop off just before your alarm goes off? Is your sleep becoming something that you worry about? Then you need to read this book.
The most common reaction from readers after reading this book is – that can’t work, it’s too easy. But falling asleep is meant to be easy…right? The method described is simple but it does take a definite effort on your part to make it work. It’s called the miraculous Kaleidoscope Method because just like magic the simple process seems to occupy your mind and let your body take over and get what it needs. The next thing you will know is it is morning. Even if you don’t think it will work it still will. One of my friends was recalling her teenage daughter saying that the last thing she remembered thinking before waking up in the morning was, ‘This isn’t working!’.
This book is quick to read – 10 to 15 minutes should do it. It uses no drugs or equipment. Once you have paid for the book you will have the process to use for the rest of your life. It gets easier and faster each time you use it. Knowing you can get back to sleep quickly will stop you from worrying about waking up. You will stop waking up so often. My favorite part – sometimes you can feel your body falling asleep; it’s like receiving a shot of anesthetic and as it spreads from limb to limb they fall asleep. That’s when you know you are just about to drop off. There is a checklist to ensure you are not doing something during the day that is stopping you from sleeping at night. It works even 30 minutes before your alarm is set to go off. It puts you back in charge of your sleep.
